Objective: To evaluate the effect of planting date on the morphological traits, growth indices and seed corn yield of three varieties, an experiment was carried out in the research farm of University of Tehran in Karaj city in 2019.
Methods: The experiment was conducted as a split-plot design based on randomized complete blocks with four replications. In this experiment, planting date in 3 levels (May 24, June 21, and July 18) was considered as main plots and variety (early KSC400, medium-early KSC647, and late KSC704) as sub plots.
Results: The results showed the highest yield is related to the second planting date (11.98 ton/Kg-1), and the longest period until the appearance of the the tassel was belonged to the first planting date (63.7 days).
The third (129/7 days), the second (122/3 days) and first planting date (113/3 days) had the longest period of physiological maturity, respectively. Also, KSC704 had the highest plant height and stem diameter, and KSC647 had the highest number of leaves. Also, the maximum leaf area, the growth rate of crop in the flowering stage was related to the cultivar KSC704 on the second and third planting date, respectively, and the maximum relative growth rate and the net absorption rate in the first vegetative stages were related to the cultivar KSC704 on the third planting date and the second planting date.
Conclusion: Overall, the second planting date and KSC704 variety are suggested as the suitable date and variety for Karaj city.

Objective: Available water for irrigation of canola decreases towards the end of the season, due to reduced rainfall and the simultaneous late-season irrigation for other spring crops. Therefore, the possibility of the plant facing drought stress in the final stages of growth is very likely. So, it is very important to select drought-tolerant genotypes in arid and semi-arid regions.
Methods: Therefore, to investigate oilseed rape cultivars under Late-season drought stress, a split-plot experiment was conducted in a complete randomized blocks design with four replications for two cultivation years (2017–2019) in Karaj agricultural research station. Treatments included three drought stress (full irrigation, withholding irrigation from the pod formation stage, and flowering stage) as main plots and five oilseed rape cultivars (Sarigol, RGS003, Hayola 401, Zafar, and Dalgan) as sub-plots.
Results: The results revealed that drought stress, especially from withholding irrigation from the flowering stage led to a significant decrease in 1000-seed weight, number of silique per plant, number of seeds per silique, seed yield, oil percentage, oil yield, length of the growing duration, water use efficiency. Under full irrigation, Delgan and Zafar cultivars, and under drought stress, RGS 003 and Delgan cultivars had the highest seed yield.
Conclusion: RGS 003 and Delgan cultivars can be recommended as suitable cultivars in late season drought stress conditions in Karaj.

Studies to assess quality of dent maize grain are noteworthy because of its wide use as food, feed and ethanol production. This study aimed to evaluate the concentration and composition of starch and oil in maize grain in response to different cultivars (KSC704 and KSC260), planting dates (20 June and 21 July), irrigation (12-day and 6-day intervals) and nitrogen (0 and 184 kg N ha-1) rate as the strip-plot factorial statistical model during the 2018 growing season in Pakdasht county of Iran. The results suggested that nitrogen application increased grain yield by one tonnes ha-1. In addition, KSC260 had higher grain yield than KSC704 by 0.96 tonnes ha-1. All compositional variables except stearic acid were affected by the interaction effect of irrigation and nitrogen rate. In low irrigated treatments, nitrogen application reduced the amount of oil, palmitic acid, oleic acid, linoleic acid and linolenic acid. In low irrigated condition, nitrogen application had no effect on increasing the concentration of starch and amylopectin. The use of nitrogen fertilizer reduced the amount of stearic acid by 0.05 g kg-1. In conclusion, the balance between irrigation and nitrogen utilization seems to be important for improving the oil and starch properties of maize grain.
